INTRAOPERATIVE ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY IN MYOCARDIAL REVASCULARIZATION
INTRAOPERATIVE ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY IN MYOCARDIAL REVASCULARIZATION
We were the first to use routine transoperative echocardiography during myocardial revascularization surgery. Close to 26% of the patients had important information during the procedure that would be unavailable if not for the TEE, like the presence of a myxoma, ASD, but mainly hypovolemia vs hypo contractility as the cause of hypotension post cardiopulmonary bypass. 2% of patients were relocated in cardiopulmonary bypass to redo the distal anastomosis. Something unheard before in this kind of surgery.
